Black History Month: Race and Disability

This is a great opportunity to learn about the Intersection of race and disability. As a teacher, parent, and friend, with the inspiration of Black History Month, I want to learn about the experiences of Black people with disabilities and the families who care for them.  I acknowledge my own privilege. I acknowledge that without speaking openly with friends and family who are racialized I would not see the prejudice and the barriers they face. Welcome to The Sensory Learning Academy- a special place to celebrate neurodiverse learners. I'm Kelly Dharamshi, M.Ed. I'm a teacher who loves to learn about learning, neurodiversity, and the role of sensory needs in learning.  For 18 years I have been teaching in mostly Special Education classrooms. I have worked with many wonderful students who have taught me so much about learning and teaching. Not many educators have been as fortunate as I have to work with such an incredible range of neurodiversity in their careers.  My students and their families have given me the best education a teacher could ever wish for!
