Welcome to The Sensory Learning Academy
Welcome to The Sensory Learning Academy- a special place to celebrate neurodiverse learners.
I'm Kelly Dharamshi, M.Ed. I'm a teacher who loves to learn about learning, neurodiversity, and the role of sensory needs in learning.
For 18 years I have been teaching in mostly Special Education classrooms. I have worked with many wonderful students who have taught me so much about learning and teaching. Not many educators have been as fortunate as I have to work with such an incredible range of neurodiversity in their careers. My students and their families have given me the best education a teacher could ever wish for!
I have also had the privledge of working with a group of incredible professionals - Speech and Language Pathologists, Occupational Theraposts, Pychologists, Consultants with a variety of specializations, Child and Youth Workers, and Educational Assistants, as well as my fellow teachers- who have supported my students and I in the classroom and have given me a wealth of knowledge in the field of Special Education.
As much as I love teaching in the classroom, (and I have learned so much about learning from my classroom experience) I want to learn more and serve the community beyond my classroom. That is what SLA is all about! Please join me in this adventure by following and sharing ideas on Instagram and in the SLA Facebook group where families can share stories, ideas and learn about learning!
